Want to learn how to weave? We offer two different class levels- one for beginners who want to learn how to weave on a floor loom and one for someone wanting to take the next step and learn how to weave on our 16 harness AVL Production Dobby loom!
In this class, students will create a four-pattern sampler we will explore pattern and the many variations that occur when different threading and treadling combinations are used. Students will be tasked with creating a four pattern sampler. You will learn: how to dress a loom, how to read a weaving draft, and how to look for and solve common weaving problems.
The class runs from 9 AM to 6 PM with lunch and light snacks provided. This course is appropriate for all skill levels and will be taught one-on-one.

In our Intro to AVL class, students will choose to make either a blanket or a scarf. You will learn how to set up the AVL’s Dobby system with a 16 harness pattern, problem solve common AVL issues, and use a fly-shuttle system. The loom will already be dressed and the majority of class time will be set aside for weaving. Students will walk away with a completed project, and skills to return to our studio to weave yardage or complete another project.
The class runs from 9 AM to 6 PM with lunch and light snacks provided. This course is appropriate for those who have previous experience on floor-looms and a well rounded understanding of weaving; this course will be taught one-on-one.
